Barrie Speedway

Barrie Speedway is a 1/3 mile tri-oval racing track located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada, north of Barrie.

It is a member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for the Ontario Provincial and National (Continental) championships, and hosts a NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race.

Barrie has three home divisions; Late Models, Thunder Cars and Pure Stocks. Other touring series are hosted throughout the season, including the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Ontario Legends Series, TQ midgets, and OSCAAR.

The track underwent major upgrades in 2004 which included upgrades to seating, pits and a full resurfacing and partial reconfiguration of the racing surface into its present short track tri-oval.

The original Dodge Dart was built by the Dodge division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1960 to 1976 in North America.  The Dart was resurrected as a nameplate for a completely unrelated car introduced in 2013.

The Dart name originally appeared on a 1957 show car featuring a body designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia.  The production Dart was introduced as a lower-priced, shorter wheelbase, full-size Dodge in 1960 and 1961, became a mid-size car for 1962, and finally was a compact from 1963 to 1976.

The 1960 model year introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts. Most important of these were a drop-center ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower, and independent front suspension, giving an almost car-like ride in a truck.

In 1967, was the revision of the C/K truck that General Motors began to add comfort and convenience items to a vehicle line that had previously been for work purposes alone.  The majority of 10 and 20 series Chevrolet trucks from 1967 to 1972 were built with a coil spring trailing arm rear suspension, which greatly improved the ride over traditional leaf springs.

The only noticeable change for 1970 was a minor update to the Chevrolet grille. At first glance, the 1969 and 1970 grilles appear identical. However, the 1970s plastic inserts actually have highlights that break the appearance into six separate sections.

The first Malibu body styles included a four-door sedan, two-door Sport Coupe hardtop, convertible and two-seat station wagon.  The Malibu was genuinely created and marketed for Chevrolet.   The Malibu SS was available only as a two-door Sport Coupe hardtop or convertible and added bucket seats, center console (with optional four-speed manual or Powerglide transmissions), engine gauges and special wheelcovers, and offered with any six-cylinder or V8 engine.

For 1965, Malibus received new grilles and revised tail sections and had the exhaust pipes replaced but carried over the same basic styling and bodystyles from 1964.  The Malibu and Malibu SS models continued as before with the SS featuring a blacked-out grille and special wheelcovers.
